Il DART-MX8M-PLUS gira su un processore da 1.8 GHz Quad Cortex™-A53 NXP i.MX 8M dotato di un co-processore in da 800 MHz Cortex™-M7 real-time. Questo è il primo processore i.MX in grado di fornire capacità dedicate di Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) grazie a una Neural Processing Unit (NPU) e un sistema di visione intelligente basato su un Image Signal Processor (ISP) e interfacce per fotocamera.
Oltre alle sue capacità integrate AI/ML, il System on Module / Computer on Module offre funzioni multimediali avanzate che includono video encode e decode engine H.265 HD, un'avanzata accelerazione grafica 2D/3D, display HDMI, LVDS, MIPI-DSI, dual GbE, 2 x USB 3, PCie, 2 x CANF-FD e ingressi per fotocamera.
Il DART-MX8M-PLUS appartiene alla famiglia di prodotti DART Pin2pin, la quale fornisce un ampio range di scalabilità; dalla piattaforma i.MX8M Mini, attraverso i.MX8M, iMX8M Plus, i.MX93 fino a i.MX95. MemryX’s integrated hardware and complementary software allow developers to build edge AI applications with enhanced performance characteristics like low latency processing and efficient power consumption while accelerating development cycles and time to market.
The collaboration launched with a plug-and-play integration of the MemryX platform with Variscite’s i.MX 8M Plus SoMs, leveraging their advanced vision and multimedia features, such as dual camera interfaces, integrated Image Signal Processor (ISP), and H.265/H.264 video encoding and 1080p60 decoding. This provides an ideal combined solution for developing vision-based applications like real-time object detection and video analytics. The collaboration will also extend across Variscite’s extensive SoM portfolio, including modules based on the i.MX 9 and i.MX 8 series.

L’U-Boot per i.MX 8M Plus nella sua configurazione originaria non ha LVDS almeno fino alla versione Yocto Scarthgap 6.6.23_2.0.0. Tuttavia, NXP mette a disposizione una patch out-of-tree che abilita la funzionalità LVDS. La patch aggiunta da Variscite estende la funzionalità al DART-MX8M-PLUS e al VAR-SOM-MX8M-PLUS.
